Toyota reported $2.2 billion profit for their latest quarter, Allan Edwards co-CEO of The Markets Are Open stated "what is most impressive is that these results came despite the high price of the Yen." All Japanese companies are hindered by a higher Yen because as by making the Yen more valuable with respect to other currencies it decreases the profitability of products sold abroad.
The currency put a 353 million dollar strain on profits on the current quarter. What drove Toyota's earnings was its strong performance in emerging markets. Edwards continued "that is the key you want BRIC growth." BRIC is an acronym standing for Brazil, Russia, India and China. Asked for closing results Edwards Finished "when you have BRIC you have got my attention!"
