NEW YORK - First Solar is the first pure play on solar energy in the S&P 500 but should it be the last? The company is set to release its third quarter 2010 results on October 28. The current estimate is that the company will earn $1.92 a share.
First Solar still has a technological edge over the competition, maintains a strong balance sheet and an impressive backlog. However, there has recently been a cut back of subsidies in the solar industry which may decrease future results.
