Beat'em By The Book (NASDAQ: RIMM)
Research In Motion is up over 5% today on news that the BlackBerry maker will sell its new PlayBook tablet computer for under $500. The PlayBook is targeted at all sorts of users, but mainly those working in corporations. RIM's BlackBerry lineup has been a major success for the company in the business world as RIM seeks to help companies do business faster and more effectively.
The PlayBook will be equipped with state of the art hardware, including 2 cameras (the rear-facing camera has 5 Mega Pixels of resolution), Wi-Fi compatibility, and dual core processors. The device pairing feature allows users to connect their BlackBerrys to the PlayBook for Internet usage. This eliminates costs to the user for an unnecessary additional data bill, and also allows RIM to reduce the cost of the device far below the competition as it no longer needs a wireless chip.
