Tech Companies Smash Earnings, INTC, IBM, JNPR, VMW, YHOO

VMWare's (NYSE: VMW) earnings jumped 50% to 48 cents per share as the virtual machine company beat estimates by 6 cents. Revenue topped analyst estimates and grew to $843.7 million. The stock was up over 12% in after hours trading. Similarly, IBM's (NYSE: IBM) first quarter earnings per share grew 21% to $2.41, beating analyst views by 11 cents. IBM shares were down slightly in after hours.

Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), shot up 4.5% in after hours trading as revenue grew 25% from the year ago period. Intel reported record earnings on better sales in high end servers. This could be good news for derivative stock plays related to networking.

Shares of Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO) and Juniper Networks (NASDAQ: JNPR) were also up moderately after hours as these companies topped analyst views.
