Today Apple released a list of suppliers for the first time, after criticism climbed for the managing of supplier workers in other countries. The extensive list can be found here.
Apple's web site shows its supplier requirements in terms of health, safety, and sustainability. The Apple Supplier Responsibility 2012 Progress report states that "Apple is committed to driving the highest standards for social responsibility throughout our supply base. We require that our suppliers provide safe working conditions, treat workers with dignity and respect, and use environmentally responsible manufacturing processes wherever Apple products are made."
The program has actually helped to detect core violations such as involuntary labour and underage labour, for which Apple is trying to correct and improve on for its suppliers. Apple's recent moves in creating more transparency toward suppliers has shown the company's strong leadership towards corporate social responsibility.
