Mid Day Stocks are Mixed ( Zoll, TZYM, TUDO, FLOW, PEP )
ZOLL Medical Heats Up On Acquisition (ZOLL, TZYM, TUDO, PLOW, PEP)
ZOLL Medical Corporation (NASDAQ:ZOLL) climbed up 23.68% to $92.88after Nikkei listed Asahi Kasei Corporation has agreed to acquire ZOLL Medical Corporation in a transaction value at JPY100 billion. Block & Leviton LLP is investigating possible breaches of fiduciary duties by the Board of Directors of Zoll Medical Corp. This is related to the offer by Asahi Kasei Corp to acquire the Company for around $2.2 billion.
Tranzyme Inc (NASDAQ:TZYM) plunged 48.04% to $2.65 on a highly traded volume of 7.64 million shares. The Company said that the experimental bowel drug failed to improve post-surgery gastrointestinal recovery in the first of two late stage trials.
Tudou Hldg Ltd (ADR) (NASDAQ:TUDO) is one of the top percentage gainers and the stock surged up 146.20% to $37.89 on a thickly traded volume of 3.91 million shares after the company was agreed to be acquired by Youku Inc (ADR)(NYSE:YOKU) for $1.10 billion, all payable in stock.
Douglas Dynamics Inc (NYSE:PLOW) augmented 1.70% to $13.16 after the Company reported superior than estimated fourth quarter results. The company’s net income came at $6.08 million or $0.28 a share compared to $5.07 million or $0.24 a share in the prior year period. On an adjusted basis, the company would have earned 29 cents a share, ahead of analysts’ target of 22 cents a share. Net sales grew 24.3% to $60.3 million, well above the consensus of $48.83 million. For the FY2012, the company projects profit of $0.55 a share to $1.15 a share and revenue of $160 million to $225 million in FY2012, above the consensus of $0.76 a share and revenues of $187.28 million respectively.
PepsiCo Inc (NYSE:PEP) soared 1.05% to $63.81. This morning, the company said that Former PepsiCo executive Brian Cornell has rejoined the company as CEO, PepsiCo Americas Foods, while current PepsiCo Americas Foods CEO John Compton has been named to a new position – President of the company.
