Radian Group Plunges 5.50% (SE, IP, NTRS, RDN, STT)


Spectra Energy Corp. (NYSE:SE) shares fell 0.65% to $28.94 after the company has declared a quarterly cash dividend on its common stock of $0.28 per share. The dividend is payable on September 10, 2012, to shareholders of record at the close of business on August 10, 2012.

International Paper Company (NYSE:IP) shares declined 1.27% to $28.70 after Analysts at Citigroup lowered their price target on shares of International Paper from $40.00 to $34.00 in a research report issued to clients and investors today.

Additionally, the company announced that it declared a quarterly dividend of $0.2625 per share for the period from July 1, 2012, to September 30, 2012, inclusive, on its common stock, par value $1.00. This dividend is payable on September 17, 2012, to holders of record at the close of business on August 15, 2012.

Northern Trust Corporation (NASDAQ:NTRS) shares fell 0.88% to $46.08 even though the shares of the company was upgraded by Goldman Sachs from a “neutral” rating to a “buy” rating in a research note issued today. The company last released its earnings data on April 17, 2012. The company reported $0.67 EPS for the quarter, beating the consensus estimate of $0.66. Analysts expect that the company will post $2.97 EPS for the current fiscal year.

Radian Group Inc. (NYSE:RDN) shares decreased 5.43% to $3.05 after the company said it wrote $8.35 billion in new insurance in the second quarter, more than double the amount it wrote a year earlier. The company has been gradually gaining market share, as some mortgage insurers have stopped writing new insurance owing to falling capital levels and regulators shut down some competitors.

State Street Corporation (NYSE:STT) shares declined 1.63% to $43.33 after the shares of the company was downgraded by equities research analysts at Goldman Sachs from a “buy” rating to a “neutral” rating in a research note issued to investors today. Moreover, analysts at Zacks restated a “neutral” rating on shares of State Street in a research note to investors on June 29, 2012. They now have a $45.00 price target on the stock.
