Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPad Mini in October, The iPhone First

Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new iPad Mini will debut in October, confirms AllThingsD, citing several sources.

The site said that the debut will take place in two separate events this fall. The first event will feature the unveiling of its new smartphone, iPhone 5 on September 12, of which, incidentally, no details have yet been made public by the company.

AllthingsD says that only after the iPhone is retailing on store shelves will it announce the iPad Mini to the world.

"That device, which is expected to have a display of less than eight inches, will be uncrated at a second special event, which sources said is currently scheduled for October," it said.

Apple's intention is to have two separate blockbuster events rather than submerge the two announcements into one and thus dilute the impact of each.

The market is waiting for both products with eager anticipation especially since major changes are expected in both compared to earlier and existing versions.

An iPad Mini, at a lower price point than the regular one, would have a ready market for it.

According to Books & Review, "Moving the iPad Mini announcement to October would also give the new device a little bit of breathing room. And, if it comes out Friday October 5, the product release would coincide poignantly with the one-year anniversary of Apple founder Steve Jobs' death, a date sure to already be on everyone's minds this October. September is already crowded with events from Microsoft, Nintendo, and Amazon. October will probably be free of major announcements allowing the iPad Mini to soak up all the media attention."
