Big Earnings Movers (SMG, POST, DNKN, EPAY, DGIT)


Scotts Miracle-Gro Co (NYSE:SMG) stock rose 1% to $41.79, well off session low of $38.94 after the company reported third-quarter net income of $93.3 million or $1.50 per share, down from $111.6 million or $1.69 per share in the same quarter last year. Adjusted income from continuing operations was $99.4 million, or $1.60 per share. Sales in the quarter were $1.06 billion, the same as a year ago. Analysts expected the company to report earnings of $1.90 per share on revenues of $1.11 billion for the quarter.

Additionally, the company announced its Board of Directors has approved an 8% increase in the quarterly dividend to $0.325 per share. The fourth quarter dividend is payable September 10 to shareholders of record on August 27.

Post Holdings Inc (NYSE:POST) reported a third-quarter profit of $15.8 million or $0.46 per share, up from $1.6 million or $0.46 per share in the same period last year. Last year's earnings included $32.1 million in impairment of intangible assets. Revenues totaled $241.9 million, down from $247.7 million in the same quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to earn $0.41 per share for the quarter. Shares of POST are down 2%.

Dunkin Brands Group Inc (NASDAQ:DNKN) stock fell 1.34% to $30.29 after the company announced that certain of its stockholders (the Selling Stockholders) intend to offer for sale in an underwritten secondary offering approximately 21 million shares of its common stock. The Selling Stockholders will receive all of the proceeds from this offering. No shares are being sold by the Company. Citigroup will act as sole underwriter for the offering.

In addition, the Company announced that it has entered in a share repurchase agreement with certain of the Selling Stockholders pursuant to which it intends to repurchase 15 million shares of its common stock from such Selling Stockholders concurrently with the closing of the offering.

Bottomline Technologies (NASDAQ:EPAY) posted fourth quarter revenues of $61.4 million, an increase of $7.1 million, or 13%, from the fourth quarter of last year. Gross margin for the fourth quarter was $33.5 million, an increase of $4.7 million from the fourth quarter of last year. Net loss was $1.2 million, or net loss per share of $0.03. Core net income for the fourth quarter was $9.1 million or core earnings per share were $0.26. Shares of EPAY soared 21.30% to $21.30.

Digital Generation Inc (NASDAQ:DGIT) shares fell 7.14% to $10.40 in pre-market hour after the company posted second quarter consolidated revenue of $96.3 million, an increase of 42%, as compared to $67.9 million in the same period of 2011. The company's second quarter income from continuing operations was $0.5 million, or $0.02 per diluted share. Second quarter Adjusted EBITDA was $30.4 million, compared to $31.2 million in the second quarter of 2011. Shares of DGIT slumped 15%.
