(NYSE:MBI) stock climbed 9% to $9.54 in the opening session after the company posted second-quarter net income of $581 million or $2.98 per share, up from $137 million or $0.68 per share in the prior-year period. Analysts expected the company to report earnings of $0.15 per share for the quarter. Total premiums earned for the quarter rose 15% from last year, while net investment income grew 68%.

ZHONGPIN INC. (NASDAQ:HOGS) posted second quarter total sales revenues of $408.2 million, from $366.5 million in the second quarter 2011. Net income decreased 43.0% to $11.0 million in the second quarter 2012 from $19.3 million in the second quarter 2011 primarily due to a lower gross profit margin, the cost of more employees to support expansion, higher salaries, rising labor and utility costs, and higher interest expenses and income taxes. Basic earnings per common share decreased 39.6% to $0.29 in the second quarter 2012 from $0.48 in the second quarter 2011.

Looking forward, the company maintained fiscal 2012 guidance and expects sales revenues to a range of USD1.55-USD1.72 billion and diluted earnings per share to be within the range of $1.36 to $1.92 per share. Analysts are expecting the Company to report revenues of $1.59 billion and EPS of $1.49 for fiscal 2012.

Allscripts Healthcare Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:MDRX) stock climbed 18% to $11.31 after the company posted second quarter net income of $8 million or $0.04 per share from $15.9 million or $0.08 per share in the same period last year. Adjusted earnings were $29.3 million or $0.16 per share, as compared to $42.5 million or $0.22 per share last year. Revenues totaled $370 million, up from $356.8 million ibn the same period last year. Analysts expected the company to earn $0.18 per share on revenues of $369.98 million. Cost of revenues increased to $212.5 million from $189 million last year.

Adjusted net earnings from continuing operations were $0.14 per share. Revenue from metal sales was $1.01 billion, as compared with $963.6 million during the same period in 2011. Analysts expected the company to report earnings of $0.17 per share on revenues of $1.02 billion for the quarter.

Hansen Medical, Inc. (NASDAQ:HNSN) posted second quarter total revenue of $3.5 million, as compared to revenue of $5.3 million in the same period in 2011. Net loss for the second quarter was $11.5 million, or $0.19 loss per share, as compared to a net loss of $8.8 million or $0.16 per share in the year ago period. Cash burn in the quarter improved to $9.1 million compared to $13.7 million in first quarter of 2012.
