Leap Wireless Gapped Down On Customers Fall (LEAP, THQI, TWTC, SB)


Leap Wireless International, Inc.(NASDAQ:LEAP) gapped down by over 16.67% to $4.60 on concerns over poor customers activity as customer cancellations outpaced new customers in second quarter. During the quarter, the company lost a net 289,000 customers, much worse than analysts’ target of a loss of 76,000 customers. The company posted net loss of $41.6 million, or 54 cents a share, down from a year ago loss of $65.2 million, or 85 cents a share. Quarterly revenue came in at $786.8 million, 3.50% year over year increase. Analysts were estimating a loss of 50 cents a share, with revenue of $836 million.

The company is now evaluating "all options," including cost cuts and potential asset sales, as it attempts to turn around its business.

THQ Inc. (NASDAQ:THQI) shares soared 9% to $5.35 as it swung to a profit in the first quarter but its revenue slipped owing to a weak market. The company posted first quarter total revenue of $133.7 million, a decrease of 32% from $195.2 million a year ago. It posted a net profit of $15.4 million, or $2 per share, as compared to a net loss of $38.4 million, or $5.63 per share a year ago.

TW Telecom Inc (NASDAQ:TWTC) shares fell 1.48% to $23.98 in the opening session after the company posted second-quarter net income of $19.3 million or $0.13 per share from $14.3 million or $0.09 per share in the comparable quarter last year. Revenues totaled $364.5 million, up 7.7 percent from $338.4 million in the same quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to earn $0.14 per share on revenues of $365.42 million.

Safe Bulkers, Inc. (NYSE:SB)’s second quarter of 2012 net revenue increased by 14% to $47.0 million     from $41.2 million in the same period in 2011. Net income increased by 13% to $21.5 million from $19.1 million during the same period in 2011. Adjusted net income decreased by 7% to $23.7 million. Earnings per share (EPS) and Adjusted EPS for the second quarter was $0.28 and $0.31 respectively. Share of SB are up 0.33% to $6.13.
