Amazon.com,
Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced the availability of its Instant Video App on
iPad which will allow its users to stream or download Amazon Instant
Video movies and TV episodes from their video library directly on their iPad.
The application offers around 20,000 titles from the Company’s Prime Instant
Video including hit TV shows like Glee, Downton Abbey and Fringe, or popular
movies such as Mission: Impossible 3, Mean Girls and Ocean’s Eleven.

Services LLC (AWS) has also launched Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS)
Provisioned IOPS which is a new EBS volume type designed to deliver
predictable, high performance for I/O intensive workloads, such as database
applications, that rely on consistent and fast response times. It offers its users the flexibility to
specify both volume size and volume performance.
The web retailer had posted a
marginally better than guided quarterly revenue of $12.83 million jumping 29.5%
from the year ago quarter while the local revenue growth (excluding currency
impacts) was 32%. The active customer account also increased by 7 million to
more than 180 million during the quarter.
Gross margin had increased almost 200 bass points
but the total gross profit declined by 6% qoq and 40% yoy as the Company’s
product mix varied from the comparative periods. Net income in the quarter was
$7 million as compared to net earnings of $130 million in the last quarter.
Cash at the end of the quarter was $4.97 billion and cash generated from
operations was $594 million.
The company has guided for third quarter revenue of $12.9-14.3 billion which is below the street
expectations of $14.10 billion.
