Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 5, which is being
launched in phases across the world, is expected to be launched in India on
October 26, according to a report by BGR India, which cited multiple sources
for its story.
Launches of the previous iPhones in India have not
been attended with the kind fanfare and hoopla usually seen in other countries.
A major reason for this is the pricing, which stops it from making it a popular
product.
However, this time around, Apple is expected to make
the iPhone 5 more widely available compared to the earlier phones from its
stable.
BGR India said that the phone will be distributed by
Apple directly rather than through its network carrier partners, which has been
the practice so far.
India is not a major market focus for the company,
which is looking more at China to propel sales and where it is keen to make
deeper inroads.
Apple's iPads are the among the top selling tablet PCs
in China. The iPhone 5 is expected to debut in China in December, in a tie-up
with local carrier China Unicom.
In just two weeks of its release, the Apple iPhone has
already been released in 31 countries, the fastest that the company has rolled
out its products.
By the end of the year the company aims to have
covered 100 countries with about 240 carriers.
Price too high. Indian buyers who are 'Price sensitive' and look for 'value for money' will pass. Most of the people who buy iPhone in india want an "exclusivity" status. iPhone is no doubt one of the best phones in the market, but not at the cost at which it comes in india
