Rumors: Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL): iPad Mini Likely To Have Wi-Fi Connectivity Only

Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL)’s expected iPad mini will feature only WiFi option. However, there will also be a revised version of the iPad with 4G connectivity option with the Everything Everywhere network of the UK. it would also sport the new ‘Lightning’ connector, as per industry sources of The Guardian.

Rumors have been building up for months that Apple would move into the low-priced tablet market by offering a smaller version of its 9.7 inch iPad that is dubbed as the iPad mini with a screen size around 7.8 inches.

That would rival directly with Nexus 7 tablet of Google, made by Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablets as well as Taiwan’s Asus, both of which fall in the category of 7-inches size.

According to multiple sources contacted by The Guardian, it has been indicate that there might be an announcement of the iPad mini very soon, with retail sources saying that they predict new products in November.

A company, Knomo that designs cases for Apple products said that it would have an iPad mini case ready in a matter of a few days, although there have been no news regarding sending out of invites for any launch event.

On Tuesday, an Australian writer, Sonny Dickson had tweeted pictures of what he called iPad mini. The pictures showed off a device about half the size of a benchmark iPad with a Lightning connector.

The new 8-pin connector that was introduced with iPhone 5 is not compatible with the 10-year old connectors that are used on millions of iPods, iPads and iPhones as well as on several accessories.

Industry sources pointed at The Guardian that they do not imagine to see 3G enabled versions of the iPad mini as that would be to allow Apple to produce comparatively inexpensive and would also restrict the top price for the product, at the same time, retaining the mobile broadband connectivity for its pricier iPad line of products.
