iOS powered devices will be able to experience a
revolutionary search experience like in on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The upgraded
Search app for iOS from Google Inc(NASDAQ:GOOG), which uses the company’s
dynamic voice-recognition software and location-based awareness, can be found
in the App Store.
The functionality is excellent across both Wi-Fi
and cellular data. The software is able to detect speech swiftly and
accurately. It will show you results on the screen relevant to your query with
super-fast speed. It is touted to be even faster than Siri for the same query,
although testing has been limited. Siri does score when it comes to the degree
of access to phone-level services, but the app is better for direct searches.
Google Now-style functionality
has been included as well. Enquires about the weather brings up a card-style
interface like on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and its “voice” is more human when
compared to Siri. It can verbally provide information about scores, flight
details, stock quotes, language translations – the list is endless.
Google Maps and YouTube are
thoroughly synchronized with the app too. Videos can be viewed on YouTube right
in the app while asking for directions provides correct information and a tap
on the screen outlining the route in Google Maps. Adjustments have been made
for iPhone 5’s bigger display and iPad, which mean Siri will face stiff
competition.
