Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Plans On Using Self-Driving Cars For Same-Day Deliveries

Google Inc(NASDAQ:GOOG) is planning on using self-driving cars for same-day delivery. It is believed to be the strategy of the search engine giant to surpass the success of Amazon in ecommerce field. Google is planning on saving on time and cost by cutting down the need for physical bodies in the driver seats.

It seems like Google is getting ready to make online shopping play up immediate satisfaction by hiring driverless cars to facilitate same day delivery.

Presently, we can get things delivered at our doorsteps within 24 hours of placing an order. However, Google, like many other companies like eBay, Walmart, the United States Postal Service and Amazon, is finding this 24-hour turnover to be positively archaic. So to find a solution for the situation, every company has been experimenting with the idea of incorporating same-day shipping. The awesomeness of the idea cannot be stressed enough.

Google has already managed to kick this thing in San Francisco, although it is only available to Google workers and their friends and families. Since this approach does not really depend on warehouses for storing goods, it is unique in several ways. Google has plans of getting into partnerships with delivery companies and retailers that already carry items. As per the New York Times, there are several retailers in San Francisco, who have already signed in.

Google’s same-day delivery service is further distinguished in terms of the technology that it plans on using – self-driving cars. Since there are no drivers, products can be delivered at any point of time.

In terms of logistics, the driverless cars would deliver an item to your home and once confirmed, it will drive off to the next destination. There would have to be some kind of system that can account for customers that are not present at home for the delivery.
