Juniper Networks Slumps On Earnings (JNPR, SIRI, CHRW, NSC, ALTR)


Juniper Networks, Inc.(NYSE:JNPR) stock dropped 7.23% to $16.30 after the company reported third-quarter net income of $16.8 million or $0.03 per share, as compared to $83.7 million or $0.16 per share for the year-ago quarter. Adjusted net income for the third quarter was $117.9 million or $0.22 per share, down from $149.8 million or $0.28 per share in the prior year quarter. Total net revenues rose to $1.12 billion from $1.11 billion in the comparable quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to earn $0.17 per share on revenue of $1.06 billion for the third quarter.

Sirius XM Radio Inc(NASDAQ:SIRI) shares gained 1.74% to $2.91. The company said that Mel Karmazin will step down as chief executive of the satellite radio company on February 1, 2013, following the expiration of his current employment agreement and after a transition period. Karmazin will also leave the company's board of directors at that time.

C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc.(NASDAQ:CHRW) stock declined 4.28% to $58.37 after the company posted third quarter profit of $116.3 million, or 72 cents a share, up from $114.3 million, or 70 cents a share. Total revenue rose 6.9% to $2.88 billion. Analysts had projected earnings of 73 cents a share on revenue of $2.96 billion.

Norfolk Southern Corp.(NYSE:NSC) shares declined 7.39% to $61.13 in the early hour after the company reported third-quarter net income of $402 million, or $1.24 per share, down from $554 million, or $1.59 per share, in the same quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to report earnings of $1.23 per share for the quarter. Total railway operating revenues for the quarter declined to $2.693 billion from $2.889 billion in the year ago quarter. Analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $2.71 billion for the quarter.

Altera Corporation(NASDAQ:ALTR) shares decreased 7.57% to $30.16 after the company’s third-quarter profit dropped to $157.5 million or $0.49 per share from $185.4 million or $0.57 per share last year. Analysts expected earnings of $0.46 per share for the quarter. The company’s sales dropped 5% to $495.0 million from $522.5 million last year. Analysts estimated revenues of $483.22 million for the quarter.
