Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Granted A Patent On Illumination On Devices

It is yet another day with another batch of Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) patents.

The US Patent and Trademark Office has awarded Apple a patent named ‘Microperforation Illumination’. As per the patent that Apple had applied for back in 2010, the technology tackles how light can penetrate through a device past minute perforations that are built into a product.

It was among the 29 patents that Apple was granted today.

for people, who think understanding ‘Microperforation Illumination’ is tricky, it can be helpful imagining the technology like the one that stands for how light could find its use in illuminating its iconic logo on the top panel of a MacBook Pro, and also some other parts of the device.

How exactly does the technology work? As per the patent details, the technology needs a source of light that can go through a layer built into a computer or a device based on touch having really miniature perforations. It depends on how the source of light hits the apparatus to ascertain the size of the perforations that would make sure of the uniformity of the light penetrating through a product.

Apple already owns a technology that lets a device to send light through a screen on the back in order to illuminate its logo. The new patent offers greater control over the source of light and the way it goes through the device. Additionally, this patent would let the lighting source to go totally blank hen turned off. This would successfully get rid of any view of what is being illuminated unless the device is turned on.

Similar to other Apple patents, there is absolutely no telling if this patent might ultimately makes its way to the company’s products. This particular patent is one of the several dozens that Apple has won in the last few months.
