Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB): Instagram Introduces Web Profiles

The popular photo app, Instagram will soon be accessible on the web.

Instagram fans will soon get to have their profiles on the web, having a profile picture, biography and recently shared photographs.

Profiles can be edited directly from the website and users can follow other users, like photos and comment on them using their profiles.

Instagram had mentioned over a blog post that it has listened to how badly users wish the app was available on the website. It would be rolling out Instagram profiles on the web very soon.

Earlier this year, Instagram allowed its users to share single images through the web that had given way to rumors that it would not be too long until the company rolled out online profiles. It seems the wait is over. 

Two years after the launch of the app, Instagram has announced that the web profiles will be available over the next week.

The web profiles will feature all the recent photographs on Instagram, username, a bio and a profile picture. It is not just about displaying beautiful pictures that users have create, the new Instagram on web would mean that users will be able to interact with their friends from the same dashboard.

There is a sharp resemblance between the Facebook Inc(NASDAQ:FB) timeline and upcoming Instagram web profile. It does not come as a surprise since Instagram has been acquired by Facebook. It would not be wrong to believe that there many be deeper integration between the two networks in future.

After acquiring Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg had said that it is a crucial milestone for Facebook.

Instagram is one of the fastest growing mobile applications till date. Its user base has increased by 80 million in less than 2 years. Instagram’s team believes that it can reach 100 million by the end of this year.
