Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) Lumia Sold Out In The United States


Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) appears to have ultimately played it right with the Lumia 920. The Finnish handset maker’s flagship device operating on Windows Phone 8 has believed to have received more than 2.5 million pre-orders worldwide and is nearly sold out in the US. Yahoo China has reported that the number of advance bookings worldwide for Nokia Lumia 920 were more than 2.5 million within 3 weeks.

The smartphone is available in three colors and was released in the month of September this year. It has started in the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia and France since late October and early November.

Lumia 920 is priced at $99 on contract with AT&T. it is reportedly sold out on Amazon. As per media reports, the black colored version of the smartphone happens to be out of stock on AT&T’s official website. Meanwhile, it carries a waiting period of 1-2 weeks for cyan and yellow versions, however, it is still available in red and white colors.

The device is slated to launch in India sometime at the end of November or starting of December, although nothing has been confirmed by the company.

Nokia Lumia 920 has a 4.5-inch ClearBlack display screen with PureMotion HD+ Technology. The device operates on the Windows Phone 8. A 1.2 GHz dual-core Krait processor powers the device. The smartphones has 32 GB of onboard memory, however, it does not have any support for microSD card. There is an 8.7 MP rear camera and a 1.3 MP front camera.

Nokia has been offering Lumia 920 in the US at $450 without any contract that is minus $100 of the price of Samsung Galaxy S III and minus $200 of the price of Apple iPhone 5. The initial rumor was that Nokia will be releasing its Lumia 920 in India in November. It later changed the schedule to December. There is no confirmed date of release at the moment.
