Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) hiring engineers laid off by Texas Instruments (TXN)

There are reports that Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) is hiring engineers and specialists who have been laid off by Texas Instruments Incorporated(NASDAQ:TXN).

Texas Instruments (TI) it may be recalled had announced in September that it was cutting about 250 engineering jobs and shutting down its operations in Israel.

According to reports Apple is recruiting many of these jobless talents for its research centers in Hertezliya and Haifa in Israel. Many of these engineers are specialist in OMAP and other smartphone and mobile chip technologies.

A report in NextWeb said that the iPhone maker had hired a number of TI engineers, and has been hiring for the Haifa center since the beginning of the year. It has previously advertised for "System on a Chip (SoC) backend Physical Design Engineers" with five or more years’ experience in large-scale SoC design.

The information is that Apple has hired these engineers for its Anobit unit, the company it purchased due to its expertise in flash memory.

One of the former founders of Anobit is also working at Apple as a senior director, on some very large scale initiatives

Apple has always been scouting around for talent in the area of mobile chips and people laid off by other companies (who are cutting costs) seems the perfect opportunity for it to beef up its own workforce.
