Only a Fool Would Sell AT&T (NYSE: T)

AT&T Inc (NYSE: T) is America's largest telephone company. The firm has over 294000 employees worldwide and generated over $123 billion in 2009.

The stock, which had reached a 52-week high on October 5th, when the company gave its quarterly payout of its almost 6% dividend, is still trading just 1 point off its high.

Investor worries that AT&T may lose its iPhone exclusivity have caused the stock to underperform rival Verizon in recent months. However, year to date, AT&T has actually out performed Verizon, which is down 2.1%. AT&T is up 1.07% since January 1st 2010.

"I believe investor worries are overblown about customers switching to VZ to get the iPhone," said Andy "Raw" Kibbens, co-CEO of The Markets Are Open. "This should be seen as an opportunity for Verizon customers to now get the iPhone, but AT&T is still healthy and should not be sold."

AT&T, a Dow component, dropped 0.6% by the close on Friday.
