Is Citigroup (NYSE: C) Worth $6 Billion more than Bank of America (NYSE: BAC)?

The hopeless banking sector was knocked down further today as investors abandon their financial stocks. Bank of America (NYSE: BAC), which has higher book value than banking peer Citigroup (NYSE: C) is trading with a market capitalization $6 billion less that Citi. banking stocks have historically traded at 1.5 times book value. However investors have become more skeptical after the recession lows. Bank of America, as well as the other major US financial institutions have become well capitalized over the past year however. Some believe that the banks will even begin to reinstantiate their once bountiful dividends. The banking sector has lagged considerably, but their may be hope in the future for the more optimistic.
