Eaton
Corporation(NYSE:ETN) surged 5.22% to $41.10 on more than its average daily
volume. Nexen The company reported strong second-quarter earnings. These latest
results extended the company's two-year streak of double-digit earnings despite
a revenue decline for the three-months ended June 30 because of
lower-than-expected market growth and foreign exchange rate.
McDonald's
Corporation(NYSE:MCD) dropped $2.96 or 3.23% to $88.62 on over 6.87 million
shares. The company reported second-quarter net income fell 4.5% on revenue
little changed from a year earlier. Earnings declined to $1.35 billion, or
$1.32 a share, from $1.41 billion, or $1.35, in the year-earlier period.
Revenue was $6.92 billion compared with $6.91 billion.
A survey of analysts by FactSet Research produced consensus
estimates of $1.38 a share of profit on $6.94 billion of revenue.
Halliburton
Company(NYSE:HAL) is trading 0.91% higher at $31.05. The company said
Monday its first-quarter profit rose to $737 million, or 79 cents a share, from
$627 million, or 68 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted
second-quarter profit totaled 80 cents a share. Revenue increased to $7.23
billion from $5.94 billion. The latest quarter included $300 million, or 20
cents a share, for an estimated loss contingency related to the 2010 Macondo
well incident, which remains under litigation.
Wall Street analysts expected Halliburton to earn 75 cents a
share on revenue of $6.93 billion, according to a survey by FactSet Research.
Akorn,
Inc.(NASDAQ:AKRX) plunged 8.79% at $13.59 on high volumes. The stock was
downgraded to hold from buy by Deutsche Bank.
Intuitive Surgical,
Inc.(NASDAQ:ISRG) fell 5.64% to $470.37 on concerns about a slowdown in
procedures for the maker of robotic surgical devices. Till now, 434484 shares
have been traded.
