AMERIGROUP Corporation (NYSE:AGP) among the top performers
and soared 37.86% to $88.70. WellPoint Inc and AMERIGROUP Corporation have
entered into a definitive agreement. WellPoint will acquire Amerigroup for
$92.00 per share in cash by purchasing all the outstanding shares of Amerigroup.
The transaction value is approximately $4.9 billion. After the acquisition,
WellPoint with its affiliated Medicaid plans will serve more than
four-and-a-half million beneficiaries of state sponsored health care programs.
WellCare Health Plans Inc (NYSE:WCG) surged up 13.69% to
$60.06. The stock is down as investors
weighed weak economic data in Asia as they looked to the upcoming U.S. earnings
season for more evidence on the health of the global economy.
Centene Corp (NYSE:CNC) moved up 17.42% to $33.99 on a
traded volume of 2.04 million shares. Ryan & Maniskas LLP announced that it
has filed a class action lawsuit in the United States District Court for the
Eastern District of Missouri on behalf of all investors who purchased Centene
Corp common stock during the period from February 7, 2012 through June 8, 2012.
Bridgepoint Education Inc (NYSE:BPI) decreased 19.67% to
$17.27. The stock plunged after the Company said that its Ashford University
has been denied initial accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and
Colleges because it failed to comply with the WASC's standards.
General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) is up 0.10% to $20.02.
Duro Felguera SA in collaboration with General Electric Co and a local entity
Fainser will build a gas-turbine electric power plant in Vuelta de Obligado.
The project represents a total investment exceeding USD 700 million
Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) slipped 0.83% to $81.21 on a
traded volume of 1.58 million shares. A federal judge has granted preliminary
approval to the Company $9 million settlement of class-action litigation
accusing the video rental company of violating consumer privacy laws. The judge
also certified a nationwide class of current and former Netflix subscribers
estimated in the tens of millions.
