OSI Systems Jumped On Earnings Beat (OSIS, ZN, KOP, AMCX, MPW)


OSI Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:OSIS) soared 10.60% to $71.26 on Thursday after the company reported fourth quarter net income of $15.9 million or $0.78 per share, versus $12 million or $0.61 per share in the same quarter last year. Adjusted net income for the fourth quarter would have been approximately $19.4 million or $0.95 per share compared to $13 million or $0.66 per share a year ago. Quarterly revenues climbed to $235 million from $183 million in the same quarter a year earlier. Analysts expected the company to earn $0.80 per share on revenues of $218.15 million for the quarter.

AMC Networks Inc (NASDAQ:AMCX)’s second quarter net revenues increased 12.2%, to $328 million over the second quarter of 2011, led by 14.4% growth at National Networks which more than offset a decline of $4 million in International and Other. Second quarter net income from continuing operations was $41 million ($0.57 per diluted share), as compared with $27 million ($0.39 per diluted share) in the second quarter of 2011. Koppers Holdings Inc. (NYSE:KOP) stock slumped 8.10% to $31.67 after the company posted second quarter consolidated sales of $411.3 million, an increase of 10%, or $36.8 million higher than sales in the prior year quarter. Net income was $20.4 million, or $0.98 per diluted share as compared to net income of $19.8 million, or $0.96 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2011.

Medical Properties Trust, Inc. (NYSE:MPW) stock fell 0.62% to $9.68 after the company posted second-quarter net income of $19.32 million or $0.14 per share, from $2.64 million or $0.02 per share in the same period last year. Adjusted funds from operations or FFO totaled $29.7 million or 0.22 per share, higher than $17.78 million or $0.16 per share in 2011. Quarterly total revenues increased 46% to $51.07 million. Analysts expected earnings per share of $0.22 on revenues of $46.94 million for the quarter.

Zion Oil & Gas, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZN) announced the successful end of field operations at its Elijah #3 wellsite within its 78,824 acre Asher-Menashe License in northern Israel. In July 2012, Zion re-entered the existing wellbore of its temporarily suspended Elijah #3 well and acquired an electric wireline log suite that had not been acquired when the well was originally drilled in 2010.
