Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone 5 and Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK)’s Lumia 920 are equally matched?

Two smartphones; one already launched to record response and the other yet to be launched.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) started selling its iPhone 5 on September 21, after unveiling it on September 12, with customers queuing up to buy it.

The Cupertino company has intoduced a phone which may be short on innovative or outstanding features, but it is the smartest, thinnest, fastest and lightest gadget in that category.

A faster processor, 4G network downloads, an improved camera are the features of the new iPhone and customers are simply lapping it up.

Yes, there are glitches, no doubt, like the Apple Maps, which is both disastrous and hilarious in equal measures and comes nowhere close to Google Maps.

However it is not an insurmountable problem and users of the phones can always access Google Maps on their browsers. The operating system of Apple iOS6 also seems to be giving problems to some people such as loss of WiFi connectivity. But again, these are thing which are sure to be ironed out and Apple can be relied on to provide updates, if the problems interfere with customers' ability to use the phones.

Now let us take a look at what Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) has to offer.

Nokia's Lumia 920 was unveiled a full week before the Apple iPhone. But it is yet to be launched, as the Finnish handset maker is waiting for its partner Microsoft to release its Windows Phone 8 operating software.

Though Nokia's phone got an unflattering reception, critics and analysts are finding that the device when compared with the Apple iPhone can stand up it in all respects.

For one, its pixel density is higher than that of Apple at 332 ppi compared to the iPhone's 326 ppi. This is further enhanced bt its large screen size of 4.5 inches and PureMotion HD+ display.

The Lumia's processor, the 1.5-GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, is one of the best processors available in the market.

At 8.7 mega pixels, the Lumia's camera, with image stabilisation technology, has a slight edge over the iPhone which has an 8 mp camera.

For those who do not think that Apple is the ultimate tech company, Nokia provides a very viable alternative.

Are you kidding? A slight edge? It blows the iPhone camera out of the water. You cannot even compare them! In fact, the Lumia 920 out does iPhone 5 in EVERY respect and this ic coming from a iPhone 4S user.
