Facebook Inc(NASDAQ:FB) recently announced upgraded
mobile updates for Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) as well as Android devices. Along
with this announcement, came the promise by Facebook Inc, to release newer
versions of these updates every few weeks, which is to say, from every four
weeks, which may also extend up to eight weeks.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO and Founder of the social
networking site had already announced the company’s growing interest in the
mobile sector. When he spoke at the TechCrunch Disrupt SF event, he did
announce the increased amount of importance they were giving to mobile updates,
and how Facebook’s responsibility towards the mobile sector has gone up. The
department which was initially manned by just one team, will now be a integral
part of the whole company.
The announcement for the mobile updates was made by
Christian Legnitto, the release manager for the site. On Thursday, he wrote on
the Facebook Engineering Page about a better mobile experience for Facebook
users. He went on to elaborate upon the point by pointing out the fact that
earlier, the mobile updates were mainly feature-driven, but the innovations
were not really driven by timelines.

With the undoubted popularity which the social
networking sight has gained, it has become an intrinsic part of the lives of
many people, and the new mobile updates for the Apple and Andriod smartphones
will make it that much more of a favorite amongst people. The new developments
by Facebook were released as applications, but now the set time period will
accelerate developments.
Legnitto pointed out the crucial differences between
the Web and Mobile usage of Facebook and the difference in updates between the
two. The Shipping of Mobile software is a risky venture, the crashing of
applications through code on mobiles is a far more plausible factor than the
risk of the crash on the Web. The updates for Web users are also set at an
easier pace than with mobile updates. Facebook intends to up its game by
providing better quality and meeting up to the promises it has made. The
company is all set to take it to the next level with the updates on the
smartphones.
