Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) Resurrects Publisher Network under New Avatar

Yahoo! Inc.(NASDAQ:YHOO) is resurrecting some of its old features that it had shut down, under the able stewardship of new CEO Marissa Mayer.

One of them is it Publisher Network for web publishers that the Internet portal had shut down about two years back.

It is now being introduced in a new avatar called Yahoo Bing Network Contextual Ads. It is for display ads on the Internet and is powered by Media.net.

According to Yahoo - “The Yahoo! Bing Network Contextual Ads program combines the expertise of the Yahoo! Bing Network and Media.net to enable web publishers to easily and effectively earn advertising revenue. Publishers can now use the Media.net self-serve platform to create and customize ad units that display relevant text ads from across the Yahoo! Bing Network.”

The product, as it stands now, is available only via an invite but that is likely to change later on.

The company, which is aggressively promoting the product, said that the ads program gives advertisers the ability to tap into millions of ads and ads topics to generate additional revenue from their website.

“It only takes minutes to implement. You can select an ad size and copy-paste the HTML provided on your web pages to start displaying targeted sponsored links and ad topics. Here is your chance to extract more value from your content, try something different, diversify your revenue sources and enjoy the benefits of working with an industry-leading ad network.”

One of the features of the program that will be of interest to advertisers is that it offers greater control over their content and it allows for targeted advertising.
