Microsoft
Corporation(NASDAQ:MSFT) is slated to host two events this month. One is
scheduled for 25th October for the launch of Windows 8 and the
second one is scheduled for 29th October for Windows Phone 8.
Microsoft seems to want
October to be its month and has planned two different events to formally launch
three major products under its banner, namely, Microsoft Surface, Windows 8 and
Windows Phone 8.
The first event will be
held in New York and the date has been set to 25th October, a day
ahead of release of Windows 8. One can expect to see a final demonstration of
the desktop software, and also hear about the company’s new Surface tablets. The
firm may also divulge info on Xbox Music.
Microsoft’s event is
scheduled to run from 10am to 3pm, instead of the regular 1-2 hour
presentation. It will also include a Microsoft Surface Reception. We have seen
Surface already, but there has not been much of talk as to how much will it
cost. So, there are chances that it is going to be one of the important stories
of the day. There are chances that we will see other Surface tablets too,
although there is no assurance if they would be put on sale.
Once Windows 8 has been
welcomed, Microsoft’s high and mighty will be flying to San Francisco to
prepare for arrival of Windows Phone 8 at another event. This time, the plan is
scheduled for 29th October.
Windows Phone 8 was
revealed in June, and was followed by a spell of hardware declarations from HTC,
Samsung and Nokia. None of them had provided any release dates.
One can expect elusive
final release dates at the event. There will be elaborate details on the
operating system and its features. It is yet to be seen if any hardware
partners will be there to declare the street date for their products.
