Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) unfazed by the new smartphone due to be released by Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)

Microsoft Corporation(NASDAQ:MSFT) is due to release a new smartphone in order to try and gain something from the now booming sector. Some would think that this would be a cause of worry for Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) , but surprisingly enough, CEO Stephen Elop is very calm and collected. Elop is sure of the fact that despite Microsoft’s release of a new smartphone, Nokia’s Lumia Line, with the Windows Phone 8 software, will stand out in the crowd, an provide unparalleled performance. During an interview with GigaOM, Elop stated that on account of Nokia’s big bet on the Window’s Phone Platform, the Finnish company has gained some rights of the software which are exclusive to the Nokia Phones.

Elop said that the exclusive rights, coupled with the fact that Nokia has had intensive research done on the subject of smartphones, is sure to make the Nokia phones stand out, despite Microsoft releasing a smartphone anytime. Nokia’s position with Windows Phone 8 will not be affected by Microsoft’s new phone.

The software company has a deal with the Finnish one, which does not affect the software company’s foray into the world of smartphones.   The Microsoft phone will most likely be released under the Surface banner, but the decision does not scare Nokia, which has been one of the leading mobile phone makers for quite a while now. Although the exact exclusive deal between Windows Phone 8 and Nokia was not revealed clearly by Elop, he did mention the ways in which the software will make Nokia phones superior in terms of photography.

The PureView imaging technology which is being built into Nokia’s 920 Flagship model is what will be unique in the Nokia Phones. The PureView system came about after years of research by Nokia, and the low-light photography, along with image stabilization for videos is sure to  make the Lumia Range phones a major hit.

Due to Nokia’s bet on the software, Nokia made it very clear that the exclusive rights it gained on the software giant would also allow Nokia to put its foot down on the Microsoft smartphone, if need be. So, says Elop, he is not worried at all.
