A foretaste of this was revealed by Google last week
when it introduced a new feature for YouTube that made streaming to television
much easier than what it is on Android.
The updated app now presents a new button making it
possible to stream from devices to the television with a single tap, replacing
a seven-step procedure that even YouTube executives found confusing, according
to Cnet.
Apple devices such as iPhone and iPad can beam content
to Apple TV, a major reason why Apple TV is so popular as video streaming
equipment. This is the functionality that Google is aiming at, because with
such a feature devices running Google's Android operating system can compete
better with Apple's iOS.
With the new feature introduced on YouTube it is
possible to stream from devices to television with the tap of a single button.
Google executives have gone on record to GigaOm to say that more
functionalities are in the offing.
