As
per a report from the Verge, Microsoft Corporation(NASDAQ:MSFT) has a 7-inch
tablet centred on games called the Xbox Surface. Its hardware is very close to
being confirmed.
Microsoft
has recently entered the tablet and PC manufacturing game industry with Surface
RT and upcoming Surface Pro. a smaller tablet totally makes sense. 7-inch
tablets have gained much popularity recently. Even Apple has made a smaller
tablet and released it recently. Microsoft has been able to keep up with the
competitiveness in terms of price. However, it would be interesting to see how
the company fares when the competition is with Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD.
The
report reveals that the tablet has chances of having an ARM processor. That
could change the future of Intel SoC chipset. Ram will be custom ‘high
bandwidth’ that is ideal for gaming. The OS would not be the full version of
Windows but the report from Verge reveals that it also would not be Windows RT.
the OS would actually be custom Windows kernel. That is possibly associated
with building integration with the next-gen of Xbox software. However, it is
also safe to believe that any Xbox tablet will maintain connections with
Windows RT and Windows 8 because simplifying the development procedure has
always been crucial for Microsoft.
The
Verge does not clearly shed light on the probability of Xbox Surface of getting
scrapped if Microsoft decides on releasing a more standard 7-inch Windows
tablet. However, if things stay on track, it would be declared before the Xbox
720. This implies before E3, that is, before upcoming summer season.
As
per some other leaks that were out in June include that the tablet will come
with a resolution display of 1280 x 720, a slot for SD card and 7 hours of
battery life.
