Nokia
Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) is working on a launch event for its Windows Phone
8 handsets next Monday in Dubai, as per the reports of Tech-WD, who has been
invited to the event.
The
invite come with a tagline ‘It’s time to switch’. The event is predicted to
bring the Lumia 920 to the Middle East region.
The
Nokia Lumia 920 has made it to the UK and France last week. It is supposed to
come to the US, Russia, Germany and other countries by this month.
The
Middle East will be a significant market for Nokia this year. The region has a
record to be strong for the company. Nokia can do with all the impetus it can
gather for its Windows 8 phones.
Stephen
Elop, CEO, had said earlier this year that the markets in Middle East and
Africa play a crucial role since Nokia has a stronger hold there.
Nokia
has managed to sell 2.9 million Lumia phones previous quarter and posted an
operating loss amounting to $754.
In
other news reported by Hi-Tech.Mail, Nokia Lumia 920 has gone on sale in
Russia. CEO Stephen Elop and Steve Ballmer have personally done the launch.
The
handset is priced at 24 990 rubles. It is almost the same cost at which the
Nokia Lumia 900 was released six months back. The HTC 8S is going to cost 3399
hrn. and is slated to go for sale in December.
In
Russia, the HTC 8X is slated to launch next week for 23 990 rubles. Initially,
the handset will only be available in jet-black. The blue verison will be
available in November. it can be pre-ordered.
The
HTC 8X will be slightly cheaper in Russia as compared to the Nokia Lumia 920.
However, the handset would not have much of a competitive edge there than
anywhere else.
