Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Is Predicted To Sell 9.6 Million Nexus Tablets In 2013

An analyst at Pacific Crest, Even Wilson had initially forecasted sales of around 14.6 million in the year 2013. Wilson has now reduced this figure since the Nexus 7 has not sold as fast as expected.

It is very tough to figure out exactly how many tablets Google Inc(NASDAQ:GOOG) is likely to sell next year. The search engine giant did not even enter the tablet market until it launched the first iteration of the Nexus 7 the previous summer. It was during that time when Apple was leading player in that industry. The Mac manufacturer has maintained that title, although there was amplified competition from Amazon and other technology giants.

During the summer, Amazon had declared that it had entirely sold out all first-generation Kindle Fire and controlled 22% of the domestic tablet industry. The company has set a latest record for Kindle sales on 26th November, as per Cyber Monday.

Wilson predicts that the Nexus 7 will be selling around 4 million units by the end of the year 2012. This plays along with the sales prediction of Asus that makes the 7-inch tablet. The Chief Financial Officer of the company, David Chang said that the device had originally sold 500,000 units each month over 6 months.
Amazon is enjoying a similar gain of 14% over the past 6 months. The online retailer is up more 36%, contributing to the 5-year increase of 170%.

Apple is not faring well. Though the company is still up over 42% year-to-date, it has dropped over 13% in the past 3 months. There have been some signs of recovery though. Apple has shot up more than 11% over the past two weeks.

Shareholders seem to be more than excited by speculations surrounding the company’s upcoming products. Many analysts believe that Apple will launch their own television. In spite of the hoopla around Apple’s first television, Amazon and Google are not developing their own TV sets.
