The Soon-To-Be Big Three? LLNW, AKAM, LVLT, NFLX

Limelight Networks (NASDAQ: LLNW), Akamai (NASDAQ: AKAM), and Level 3 Communications (NASDAQ: LVLT) are popular content delivery networks used for transferring movies and media quickly through the Internet.

Akamai is the largest of the three and has recently made a deal with Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) to pass just over 50% of their traffic through Akamai's network.

Limelight and Level 3 also help to support Netflix' operations, but on a smaller scale. LVLT is a larger company than Limelight by assets and by market capitalization. However it is worthwhile to note that the company's tangible equity is approximately -$1.7 billion while it earns about $900 million in revenue each quarter. Limelight has positive tangible equity, though very small. However the company's revenues are growing rapidly. The last quarter they had $49 million in revenue.

Some investors believe that Netflix is passing more traffic through Akamai and Limelight as it moves away from Level 3. Akamai and Limelight are in the content delivery services business, whereas Level 3 is less known as a content delivery network and simply a company the aids in communications over the internet.
