Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has reportedly been recruiting intellectual property experts for to
help the Company lead into the patent acquisition and licensing arena where
most of the smartphone battle actions are taking place.
The smartphone market
has entered into the stage where each of the competitors is trying to acquire
patents and licenses for apps to capture the majority of the market share and
retain it. The latest turn in the market is the intensification of the Apple
Inc vs Google Inc in mobile devices and digital content.

The latest acquisitions
announced by competitor Google Inc has been that of Wildfire; the most
prominent app developer for the social network site Facebook Inc; and that of
Motorola Mobility which would help Google better integrate its hardware and
software.
Amazon, the internet
retailer has hired executive recruiting firm Argos Search to help the company
hire an intellectual property "Acquisition and Investment Leader" to
"identify and evaluate strategic IP acquisition and licensing
opportunities”.
Amazon will be building
all the apps into its own hardware which would require a lot of different
patents, intellectual property. As the Company goes forth with the various apps
integration on its mobile device, it omits any possibility of potential
lawsuits alleging infringement of other companies' patents and this can be
carried out with the buying and licensing intellectual property in these areas.
Shares of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) were down 0.92% to $234.38.
