Rogers has declared it will own exclusive rights to the flagship Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) Lumia 920, which is one of the first smartphones to run on Windows Phone 8 operating system.

26th October is the day when Windows Phone 8 was launched in North America. Rogers had promised the Lumia 920 which is a Windows 8 smartphone that will operate on the new, higher speed LTE network. The Lumia 920 signifies Nokia’s most recent attempt to handle Apple and Samsung’s dominance in the smartphone market.

At the same time, the rate of growth for Android and iOS devices has topped the charts of any consumer technology in history, as per the research company Flurry Analytics. Flurry wrote in one of its blog post that compared to latest technologies, adoption of smart devices is recorded as 10x faster that it was during 80’s PC revolution period, 2x faster that it was in ‘90s Internet boom and 3x faster than the latest adoption of social networks.

The latest Lumia 920 comes with Nokia’s PureView camera technology that allows five times more light than any other smartphone camera. This lets a wider range of flash-free photos in low light. And the floating lens it comes with delivers superior picture stabilization, for a combination that could give Nokia a unambiguous edge when it comes to smartphone cameras.

A host of other features make Lumia 920 a compelling device. The capability to charge wirelessly, offline maps, better visibility under direct sunlight and ability to communicate with touch screen with gloves on are some of them.
